killer driller
I just watched Driller Killer. ‘Tis a film that promises much.. an artist that is driven nuts by his girlfriend and her lesbian lover and the punk band rehearsing next door 24 hours a day starts killing people with a power drill. What’s not to like about that setup? Hell, it was even banned in the UK for a while.. so when I found it in a cheap DVD store, I knew it had to be great. Unfortunately.. the going nuts part appears to have been left on the cutting room floor, the drilling people part is mostly glossed over, and the lesbian part (I know you all want to know..) is confined to a single shower scene. Also, the guitarist for the punk band appears to be more at home playing the blues (and should stick to it), while the rest of the music appears to have been accidently recorded while someone was plunking about on the cheapest keyboard available. I’m sure they made it on a shoestring budget and all that, but I still don’t get where they found people to gush over it so much. Hell, they even found someone to record a five minute introduction to the movie.. near the end of which he starts referring to the very final scenes.. and I hit the next chapter button because I don’t want to hear about them until after I seen ‘em. To compound it all, the film stock transcribed to DVD is of such poor quality that it may as well be a shouldercam session from a screening in a cinema somewhere.
Disappointing and not recommended.
