I got a new toy today! It’s a Honda CT110 ex Aus Post postie bike. Aww yea, I can feel your jealousy from here. I had to get up super early to get it so that I could ride it to the mechnics to get a blue slip then head off to the RTA to get it rego’d, but hey.. I have a bike! It’s a little pokey, but it was cheap and by all reports should be reliable and easy to maintain. You may notice (if you notice these things) there’s no clutch lever.. it’s not an auto, it just has a centrifical clutch. Basically, you just change gears by dropping the revs and hitting the gear lever. It’s a bit odd, but riding around today I quickly got used to it. I got my learners recently so it’s all pretty new to me, riding about on roads without having to pedal.. not scary or anything though, just something different to do. I figure I can get some high-vis clothing and ride down the footpath now… Anyway, here’s some pictures. Click to embiggen.
I got a little stally when out and about.. the guy I bought if off reckons it’s just because it’s been sitting around for a while. The plan is to clean up the spark plug and whatnot.. if that’s no good, I’ll be seeing how easy it is to pull the carbie apart. How hard could it be?
Specs for the curious:
105cc 1-cyl 4-stroke engine
About 7.5ish horsepower
4 speed clutchless manual (not the dual-band version.. I think this is just the high-ratio side of things)
V-max is about 85kmph apparently.. if thrashed down a hill maybe.
Dry weight is 89kgs.
